Christmas Tree Festivals, December 2019
The Club has recently supported the Christmas Tree Festivals held at St Philip and St James over the weekend of Friday 6th to Sunday 8th December and then the arrangement was dismantled and transported to All Saints Church, Crondall, on Monday 9th, ready for the launch of their Festival on Tuesday 10th until Sunday 15th December.
The floral team consisted of: Penny Webster, Bernice Blandford, Ann Ings and Sue Gibbons. Their idea was to produce a contemporary view of a Christmas tree and to make it ethereal and light. Once the framework and mechanics had been made, decisions on the flowers and foliage were discussed. As the arrangement was going to be displayed in two separate venues it had to be robust enough to be dismantled, transported and then reformed at the second venue. Therefore, cymbidiums and carnations were the main stars mixed with garden foliage such as ivy, eucalyptus, pine, tinus and mistletoe and finished with a veil of sprayed asparagus fern. Incredibly, the flowers stood up wonderfully well.
The Club was delighted to have been awarded two certificates: 1st in our category for Groups, Businesses and Organisations; and a 3rd place in the overall category, made by a public vote.
Both events were very successful with plenty of visitors who enjoyed viewing all the splendid Christmas Tree exhibits.
